Stamping requires tooling but can reach seconds per part and combine piercing, blanking and forming. Decide by total cost and revision risk; no universal volume automatically justifies a die.

If laser variable cost C_L=CNY 18/part, stamping tool T=CNY 120,000 and stamping variable cost C_S=CNY 4/part, theoretical break-even N=T/(C_L−C_S)=8,572 parts. Add tool maintenance, trials, material yield, quality cost, financing and revision scrap. If design may change in six months, even a theoretical break-even may not justify tooling.

PHASED STRATEGY

1. EVT/DVT: laser+bending to validate holes, assembly, tolerance and demand quickly. 2. PVT: freeze CTQs/material, collect rate/yield data, compare simple, progressive or transfer tooling. 3. Production: tool approval should cover last-off sample, CTQ capability, spares and maintenance; define ownership and “tool life.” 4. Hybrid: laser perimeter with punched standard features, or stamped blank plus secondary laser, may be best at medium volume.

Can the numerical rules in these articles be copied directly onto drawings?

Not without validation. Use them for initial DFM, validate with the actual grade/temper, equipment, tooling and samples, then place the approved range in the drawing or control plan.

Does passing salt spray, adhesion or Cpk prove part reliability?

No. They address a test environment, coating-separation behavior or statistical stability and form only part of the evidence. Reliability also depends on service load/environment, design details, process audit and durability tests.

Why do the articles emphasize standard editions?

Standards are revised or withdrawn. State number and year contractually and ensure customer, manufacturer and inspector use the same edition. For example, ISO 2859-1 has a 2026 edition; an old table does not automatically govern a new contract.
